The SEC is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented individuals for its Spring 2016 Honors Program for undergraduate students  in the Washington, DC Home Office and our Regional Offices.  We offer undergraduate students robust responsibilities and experiences that enhance their potential careers. Over the course of the ten-week program, students work with Commission staff on projects particular to the specific Division or Office to which they are assigned. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in seminars/workshops, and roundtable discussions that will provide detailed information and guidance on securities laws.


The Spring 2016 Student Honors Program for undergraduate business students will begin Monday, January 11th and conclude Friday, March 18th, 2016.

DUTIES:

Undergraduate and graduate students will be assigned to work with SEC staff members on projects and assignments that cover a broad range of the Commissions' work. That work depends upon the division or office where the student works. Intern assignments range from supporting securities regulations to assisting in professional administrative duties such as human resources, contracting, auditing, etc. Students are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week within the Washington, DC or Regional Offices. We welcome applicants looking for fulltime opportunities as well. The SEC is looking for the following majors at the undergraduate and graduate level:
  • Accounting/Economics/Finance
  • Business Administration (Contracting/Procurement, Management, Project Management)
  • Human Resources/Human Resources Development (Washington, DC ONLY)
  • Information Technology/Computer Science/Information Systems
  • Graphic Design
  • Mathematics/Statistics
  • Public Administration/Government
  • Criminal Justice (Washington, DC ONLY)
  • Library Sciences (Washington, DC ONLY)
  • Communications/Marketing
  • Journalism/English/Literature

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Undergraduate students must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college or university to participate in the Student Honors Business Program.



  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior student
  • Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student
  • Must be taking at least half-time academic course load
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred



High school students & college freshman are not eligible to apply to the Student Honors Business Program

  • A GPA of 3.0 of higher is preferred
